trans4num joins TERRAenVISION Conference 2026 in Trier

This September, the trans4num project will participate in the TERRAenVISION Conference in Trier, Germany, an international event dedicated to exploring transformational pathways towards a more sustainable society within planetary boundaries.

TERRAenVISION brings together researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, and societal stakeholders to exchange experiences, share scientific advances, and discuss innovative solutions supporting sustainability transitions. The conference promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue around major global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the European Green Deal, COP processes, and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

The conference programme is structured around the major transitions shaping our society today, combining keynote presentations, panel discussions, and thematic parallel sessions.

trans4num session: Circular nutrient management for resilient agricultural systems

As part of the conference, trans4num will organise a dedicated session focused on circular nutrient management and sustainable agricultural transitions.

Conveners

  • Andrea Knierim
  • Simon Willcock
  • Qirui Li
  • Adrian Müller
  • Tommy Dalgaard

Session focus

The session will explore how nature-based, agroecological, and regenerative approaches can support more resilient, productive, and climate-robust agricultural systems by rethinking nutrient cycles across farm, landscape, and food-system scales.

Contributions are invited on topics including:

  • Nutrient flows, balances, and efficiencies using empirical and modelling approaches
  • Trade-offs and synergies between environmental, economic, and social outcomes
  • Governance, policy, and institutional frameworks enabling the adoption and scaling of circular nutrient practices

The session will combine invited talks, contributed presentations, and a moderated panel discussion to foster interdisciplinary exchange and generate policy-relevant insights supporting the transition from linear nutrient inputs towards circular, soil-centred agricultural systems.

Call for contributions

We invite researchers and practitioners to submit oral presentations for the session until 15 July.

We also encourage participants to explore the many other sessions and themes featured at the TERRAenVISION Conference.
