Context

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany jointly established the Sino-German Agricultural Centre (DCZ) and its Science & Technology (S&T) Platform in November 2015, which has since entered the third phase of cooperation.

Since its establishment, the S&T Platform has focused on areas of common interest, such as soil health, food safety, and smart agriculture, promoting exchanges and cooperation between agricultural research institutions and universities in China and Germany and strongly supporting the high-quality development of agriculture in China and Germany.

In order to further strengthen the exchanges between the two sides, in the third phase of the S&T Platform, China and Germany sent delegations to each other in 2023 and 2024, including a German delegation visit to China in September 2024.

Furthermore, the S&T Platform co-organized the Sino-German Conference on Innovative Approaches for Agriculture and Food System as part of the "Sino-German Agricultural Week" activities.

The aim of the conference was to promote the international cooperation among the institutes, to cultivate international talents, to open up new paths for international cooperation, accelerate the development of international innovation centers, and elevate the international standings of the involved institutes.
