trans4num INSPIRE Hackathon 2024 Champions Unveil Sustainable Agriculture Solutions

The trans4num INSPIRE Hackathon 2024 culminated on December 17th 2024 with a virtual event showcasing innovative solutions aimed at transforming intensive agriculture through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). This year's hackathon emphasized EU-China collaboration, bringing together young farmers, students, and professionals to develop sustainable nutrient management practices.

An international jury recognized three outstanding teams for their exceptional contributions:

  • Gold Award: Anke Möhring and Yuquan Chen for their project on integrating diverse NBS case studies into a unified agent-based modeling framework.
  • Silver Award: Karel Charvát and Alexander Kovalenko for their AI-enhanced geospatial analysis tool designed to support rural development initiatives.
  • Bronze Award: Zoltán Füzfa and Katalin Miholicsné Orbán for creating engaging experimental tools and content to promote the adoption of NBS.

The hackathon served as a dynamic platform for participants worldwide to collaborate virtually, guided by experienced mentors. Teams addressed challenges such as optimizing nutrient use efficiency, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering circular farming approaches.

Detailed reports and presentation videos from all participating teams are now publicly accessible, offering valuable insights into cutting-edge sustainable agricultural practices.
